Located in the Yuehai Lake Area of Yinchuan City, the project is designed as a high-end lakeside residence, integrating "Eastern Zen and Introspective Awareness" as its cultural core. Aimed at urban elites and multi-generational families, the design blends natural seclusion with modern luxury. The concept centers on "the spiritual journey of Zen meditation," following a spatial structure of "One Main Axis, Two Gardens, Four Paintings, and Eight Landscapes."
The design draws from Zen philosophy, classical Chinese landscape paintings, and Eastern aesthetics. It represents the three stages of Zen meditation: "Seeing mountains as mountains—Seeing mountains not as mountains—Seeing mountains still as mountains," reflecting the Zen principle of non-attachment. Scenic imagery from classical works like Wang Wei’s "Wangchuan Villa" and Li Gonglin’s "Elegant Gathering" inspire the integration of art into the landscape. The design also focuses on "elegance, leisure, and inner depth," creating a spiritual sanctuary.
The project materializes Zen and landscape themes through landscape nodes such as "Yunmen Greeting" and "Clear Spring on Stone," while providing age-friendly spaces like children's playgrounds, fitness areas, and lake-view platforms to promote intergenerational harmony. It utilizes creative design strategies, like transforming fire-fighting access areas into leisure spaces and optimizing site layouts to increase functionality and visual appeal.
The project faced challenges, including significant elevation differences in the central axis area. The design team addressed this by creating a "changing views with each step" experience through vertical landscape design. They also balanced cost control with quality assurance, optimizing construction techniques and material selection.
Sustainability is a key focus, with native plants used for ecological value, energy-efficient LED lighting, and water-saving drainage systems. The design prioritizes eco-friendly materials like stone-like bricks and bamboo wood, ensuring both environmental and material sustainability.
