City Coordinates Hotel, Tongzhou, Beijing

Located in Tongzhou, Beijing, the City Coordinates Hotel redefines the micro-vacation experience in the city's sub-center with 50 exquisite guest rooms. Designed with a focus on the younger generation, the rooms feature black, green, blue, and red as their thematic colors. Functionally, the spaces are divided into sleeping area, makeup area, washing area, bathroom area, and an IP design zone to cater to the needs of young guests. By extracting youthful symbols and reinterpreting traditional hotel functions, the design transforms young people's demands into a modern spatial language — at the entrance, patterned floor tiles guide the way, while inside the rooms, handmade tiles and wood textures create a warm, tactile atmosphere, with distant views of the Urban Green Heart.

The project's challenge lies in achieving a balance between functionality and aesthetics within a limited volume. The public area uses modular furniture to enable scene transitions between daytime socializing and nighttime privacy. A water art installation at the end of the lobby alleviates the sense of oppression caused by the long, narrow depth. In terms of material selection, locally reclaimed old bricks and eco-friendly coatings echo the concept of sustainable development.

This is a contemporary translation of the local youth culture in the city's sub-center — within just 50 guest rooms, it stages a dialogue across time and space between Tongzhou's heritage as an ancient canal port and its identity as a young, modern sub-center, presenting an authentic and poetic vision of the new Beijing to the global design community.
