Shiseido China’s 45th Anniversary Exhibition, themed “Moments and Eternity,” is an immersive spatial experience expressing beauty, time, and human connection. The exhibition reflects the 45-year journey of coexistence and growth between Shiseido and China since its arrival in 1981, while also expressing the company’s ambition to continue evolving toward becoming a century-old company in China. Through products, craftsmanship, employee stories, and shared memories, the exhibition visualizes the values and relationships Shiseido has built across generations.
The creative strategy, “Beauty Continue to Expand Beyond the Future,” is rooted in the philosophy of beauty Shiseido has cultivated since its founding. The exhibition celebrates not only the brand’s history, but also the people behind it. Messages such as “Every Step Counts,” “Every Choice Values,” and “Everyone Shines” emphasize the importance of individual contributions, craftsmanship, and emotional connection in shaping Shiseido China’s future.
The creative direction, “Karakusa Road”, transforms fleeting moments into eternal beauty through light, shadow, perspective, and the symbolic Karakusa motif. Rather than treating time as fixed, the design interprets it as a continuous rhythm connecting people, memory, and craftsmanship. Shiseido’s signature aesthetic of white space, restraint, and quiet emotional sensitivity is expressed throughout the environment, creating a calm yet immersive atmosphere.
The Karakusa motif functions as both a historical symbol and a visual language representing vitality, continuity, and universality. Together with the changing spatial experience created by light and movement, it embodies Shiseido’s belief that beauty can transcend time and transform moments into something eternal.
