Design Philosophy: Timeless Aesthetics and Cultural Context Interpretation
This project aims to create an urban landmark rooted in elegant Eastern charm and crafted with modern exquisite workmanship. Rejecting extravagant decorations, it adheres to the long-life & loose-fit design philosophy. The combination of weather-resistant natural stones (Angola Black and Binzhou Green) and delicate wood veneers ensures the building retains a gentle texture over time and cuts the life-cycle maintenance costs. Integrating Suzhou's profound canal cultural heritage with modern elites' dual pursuit of seclusion and social interaction, the design delivers an immersive spiritual journey amid starry scenery.
Spatial Narrative: Vertical Zoning and Functional Layout
As the core of the Nine Starry Realms, the clubhouse features a distinct narrative circulation formed by the vertical height difference between the basement and the ground floor.
The main entrance draws on the architectural form of the Lingxing Gate of Suzhou Confucian Temple, presenting a grand gateway with a span of 64 meters. The metal ceiling engraved with apricot leaf patterns is embedded with 750 lamp beads, creating a poetic scene of stars illuminating the way home. The gradient amber tinted long-span glass roof, inspired by the shape of the Secret Color Porcelain Lotus Bowl from Suzhou Museum, symbolizes abundant wealth and shines brightly amid light and shadow.
The ground floor highlights light and display. Serving as the marketing hub, it maximizes natural daylighting through the visual corridor of the landscape courtyard to realize passive energy saving.
The basement focuses on seclusion and immersion. The constant-temperature swimming pool and private dining area maintain thermal stability by virtue of soil thermal inertia. Sunken courtyards effectively solve the problems of daylighting and ventilation underground, bringing natural scenery into the quiet space and enabling an idyllic dwelling where residents live amidst landscapes.
