In a bustling urban environment where space is a luxury, this harmonious interior sanctum embodies a dual ethos of Eastern reverence and modern pragmatism.
The design stems from a tripartite philosophy that equally apportions life into work, recreation, and rest, serving as a tangible manifestation of the SPIRIT philosophy's ideals. The muted palette employs beige-grey tones paired with the subdued grain of wood, creating a backdrop to the naturally expansive hues of landscape blues. The room’s ambiance resonates with the roughness of stone textures and the tranquil panorama of mountainscape. These principles breathe life into an interior landscape where tranquility is the ultimate goal, realized through the seamless amalgamation of artistry and function. Striving for tranquility in a haven of calm, the design interweaves multiple layers of Eastern philosophy and artistry. The walls serve as canvases for mountainous landscapes, skillfully executed with Italian eco-friendly paints. This ethereal backdrop is further elevated by furnishings that echo the timeless aesthetics of Eastern culture. Within this sanctum, the omnipresence of Manjushri Bodhisattva—the epitome of Buddhist wisdom—bestows a sense of direction and spiritual equilibrium. Infusing the space with an atmosphere of poetic tranquility is the homeowner's life philosophy, inspired by the enduring lines from Su Shi's "Ding Feng Bo." It reflects an equanimity toward the ups and downs of existence, a contemplative outlook that transcends worldly concerns.
Sustainability is not an afterthought but a central tenet guiding the project. The primary wall, built with small fragments of stone, embodies a meticulous approach to waste management and resource recycling, showcasing a commitment to environmental stewardship. Natural light is strategically utilized to minimize the need for artificial illumination. Green plants fill the balcony, serving as natural air purifiers. Thermal insulating materials are deployed to improve ventilation, reducing the residence's carbon footprint. The art wall designed to support a 30-kilogram Bodhisattva sculpture incorporates hidden metal elements reinforced with woodworking techniques, a nod to both aesthetic and structural integrity.
In this sanctuary, traditional and modern elements, aesthetics and ethics, form and function coalesce, offering a nuanced narrative of a life lived in tranquil harmony.
