The pillar of design for the Coiling Pod is derived from the philosophy pf Kundalini and the natural dwelling of the snake. “Kundalini” is an ancient Sanskrit word meaning “coiled snake”. It was believed that everyone is born with this divine energy and capable of harvesting it when one meditates deeply. This is the practice of awakening our Higher Self. Through understanding the snake’s behavior and its natural habitat, their living aspect of constriction and expansion is abstracted.

From there, the project aims to develop a single programmed hut that emphasizes space is passive, it urges our guests to relax or meditate in isolation; whereas in space that is active, there is more movements involved. From walking up to the loft, to sliding down to the kitchen, the Coiling Pod holds this unique feature as it redefines a retreat setting and focuses on a chronological journey of the guests. Being highly efficient and compact is its design, the Coiling Pods truly is a vessel of rich experiences coiled into a pod.
