The Awa Odori is a traditional performing art with a 430-year history in the Tokushima prefecture of Japan.

Its elegant and fascinating dance is characteristic of the performance, and it has become one of the most popular summer festivals in Japan.

The poster design for AWAODORI PRESS, which promotes Tokushima's Awa Odori dance to a broad international audience, features a woman in a kimono dancing to the rhythm of two beats, creating a sense of the gracefulness of this traditional dance.

By printing the dancers one on top of the other on semi-transparent paper as double-sided posters with muted colors to show the dance form and carriage symbolically, the front and back become one and the same graphic.

The effect is that the two dancers appear to be overlapping, creating a vivid image of the female dancer's group beauty.

By blending traditional beauty with symbolic expression, we visualize the charm and essence of the Awa Odori dance from a contemporary perspective.

We present a new expression to a local culture that has been traditional.
