Shao Xuehua’s first Chinese BBQ restaurant is located in WONGTEE PLAZA, Shenzhen, with a total area of 300 square meters. To give Chinese-style barbecue a fresh look, the design takes inspiration from one of China’s most iconic cultural symbols—the Great Wall. The strong and meaningful element is brought into the space to shape a clear and unique brand identity, helping people instantly connect with the idea of “Chinese BBQ.”

The restaurant’s exterior design features two large glass curtain walls paired with LED displays. When night falls, a dynamic image of the Great Wall appears through layers of light and shadow, creating a strong visual impact while also sparking curiosity and a desire to explore the space inside. The interior doesn’t aim for short-lived visual excitement. Instead, it draws from the traditional architectural style of Beijing, using materials like gray brick and exposed beam-and-column structures. These classic elements are reimagined with a modern approach to rebuild a sense of traditional order within the space. To set the overall mood, the design uses a mainly gray color palette, paired with minimal, clean lines to keep the space open and calm, which creates a quiet, refined atmosphere with a sense of understated beauty. The walls feature a mix of gray bricks and mirrored stainless steel tiles, creating a contrast between rough and smooth, solid and reflective surfaces. This combination not only reduces the sense of heaviness from the walls but also adds visual depth and a modern edge to the space.
