This is a lighting renovation project designed to reactivate the cultural expression of the century-old building in a contemporary way. The design team addresses the fading ceiling hierarchy and indistinct floor decorative patterns in the original building by leveraging a dual-angle lighting strategy, modern eco-friendly material craftsmanship, and restrained form language—restoring the space's visual coherence and historic ambiance in a rational way.
The core strategy centers on the directionality of light. The design team has crafted two distinct lighting paths—one upward, one downward. 45° upward lighting gently covers an approximately 2m² ceiling area, reawakening the well-shaped structure and the relief details with auspicious implications. 90° downward lighting focuses on the red, yellow, and green geometric inlays on the floor, letting visitors naturally perceive the Art Deco style the moment they step into the space.
In terms of material, the lamp body uses 100% recyclable polycarbonate for 3D printing, replicating the delicate touch and time-honed traces of brass through a brass-like vintage finish. This material is 60% lighter than traditional brass casings, significantly reducing the load on the historic building's protective structure. The lamps embrace 3000K warm light as the final choice, balancing the space's historic tranquility and the clarity of detail presentation.
