This project transforms a fashion brand's headquarters into a workspace that merges Song Dynasty aesthetics with contemporary Chinese style. The design translates—rather than copies—the essence of Song aesthetics: restraint, warmth, and the deliberate use of empty space.
The elevator lobby unfolds like a handscroll painting, inviting visitors into a landscape. A curved folding screen, crafted with Song-style silk and brass filigree, defines spaces while evoking tactility and craftsmanship. Materials are chosen for their quiet resonance: micro-cement mimics the matte softness of Song ceramics, while metal-framed glass replaces bamboo blinds to filter light.
The layout borrows from Song garden design—"borrowed scenery" and winding paths—to naturally encourage movement and impromptu conversations. Seaside light is softened through horizontal grilles, casting poetic shadows. Break areas incorporate four refined arts of Song literati: tea ceremonies, incense, flower arranging, and hanging scrolls, allowing young employees to experience Chinese culture naturally, without overt instruction.
The headquarters is also media-ready—requiring no additional sets for brand shoots. Ultimately, this is an office that feels quietly Song, quietly contemporary—never forced, never loud.
